Scotland | Our favourite restaurants in Edinburgh
BABA
We have been here several times. Middle Eastern flair, amazing cocktails, beautiful food with amazing taste, a place to indulge and discover new things
Bread Street Kitchen & Bar by Gordon Ramsay
We have been here several times, amazing industrial-chic vibe with open kitchen, amazing cocktails and generous servings
L'Alba D'Oro
We went once after reading an Anthony Bourdain recommendation. We were the first customers one day at 5PM, we saw the oil was fresh before frying our cod
Oink
We went here once after going by its window several times while sightseeing and seeing that the roast pig was vanishing by the minute. Great to order your shredded pork sandwich here and then head to Calton Hill for an impromptu picnic
Ondine
We went here and cannot wait to go back. Stunning seafood place, with the freshest ingredients. The fish soup is just another dimension.
The Club Room at The Dome
We went once for breakfast, old school service with exquisite attention to detail
The Colonnades at The Signet Library
We went once and this is where we got engaged! So its festive afternoon tea will always be on our minds. This place is stunning and historical, service is superb and it is just magical to eat surrounded by books!
The Devil's Advocate
We went once and without booking. We were just walking down the Advocate's Close and saw the restaurant and its chiaroscuro vibe. The food from the daily menu was just superb, one of our best meals in the city
The Edinburgh Larder
We went once for breakfast, food is good and servings are generous. But it is a small space so there might be a queue outside to get in
The Kitchin
We went to The Kitchin in Leith twice (and even met Chef Tom Kitchin on our second visit, we were so starstruck!) and it is one of our favourite restaurants in the world. Not because it is Michelin-starred, but because the attention to detail is out of this world, the food really honours Scotland's best and is just stunning. I wouldn't mind going for a 3rd time!
The Queens Arms
We went once. You want the vibrant pub vibe at close of business, with a library flair? This is the place for you. The food servings are the most generous in the land!
We have been to more restaurants in Edinburgh as we have been in the city several times now but not all have made it to this list. Only the best for us are aforementioned and we will let you know if we update in a future visit :)
